BUSLOGIC ANNOUNCES STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP WITH NEXT COMPUTER FOR
DEVELOPMENT OF 32-BIT SCSI SUPPORT FOR NEXTSTEP
SANTA CLARA, CA, September 30, 1994 -- BusLogic, a leading
supplier of high performance SCSI, IDE, and RAID I/O solutions,
today announced a strategic partnership with NeXT Computer,
Inc. in support of NeXT's NEXTSTEP operating environment.
Specifically, BusLogic and NeXT have developed a 32-bit device
driver which makes BusLogic's SCSI host adapters compatible with
the NEXTSTEP object-oriented software, which has been designed
for the development of custom, enterprise-wide, client/server
applications.
The new device driver utilizes the BusLogic 32-bit
extended mode, enabling data to be transmitted with greater
efficiency for optimum performance. The BusLogic driver will be
available through NeXT's future release of NEXTSTEP version 3.3,
and also via NeXT's various bulletin boards and support systems.
BusLogic has worked closely with NeXT to ensure that
BusLogic's entire family of SCSI host adapters are compatible with
the NEXTSTEP operating environment. In addition to the NEXTSTEP
OS, BusLogic supplies device drivers for all major operating
systems including DOS/Windows, NetWare, Windows NT, SCO UNIX,
O/S 2, Solaris, Interactive UNIX, UnixWare, and many others.
BusLogic drivers are also embedded in leading operating systems
such as NetWare 3.12 and 4.x, Windows NT and Solaris.
"We are delighted to be a partner with NeXT in supporting
it's industry-leading applications development environment," said
Julian Elliot, director of marketing at BusLogic Inc. "Through
our NEXTSTEP OS device driver, we reinforce BusLogic's commitment
to and market position in offering the broadest range of operating
system support in the industry."
"NeXT has been committed to working with BusLogic in its
development of support for NEXTSTEP because our customers have
been demanding access to BusLogic's industry-leading high
performance SCSI host adapters to provide them with the highest
levels of I/O throughput available today," said Bob Lawton,
strategic technology manager of NeXT's Intel-based product line.
"We believe this new support will allow our customers to optimize
their operating environments."
